Contemporary Artist Taylor Anne Smith Invited to Show Her Work at Exclusive Florence Biennale in December 2007
Taylor Anne Smith has been chosen from the world art community to represent the United States at the 2007 Florence Biennale in Florence, Italy. Also known as the Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea, the Biennale has showcased the work of many modern art luminaries. Participation in this prestigious event is by invitation only. Taylor was selected by an international jury comprised of
numerous people from the art world, including members from the National Academy of Art (India), The Museum of Contemporary Art (Brazil), and The Metropolitan
Museum of Art (New York, USA).
"The Florence Biennale is an amazing opportunity to increase my exposure as an artist on an international scale and to enhance
the reputation of not only Contemporary American Art, but specifically art created locally here in Indianapolis," Taylor recently said when discussing this honor with a magazine interviewer in Rome.
"However, due to the expense of travel, shipping multiple paintings to Italy and the official Biennale costs, I am seeking to defray some of those expenses by locating a sponsor. Without sponsorship, I will possibly be unable
to participate in the Biennale. The United States government, unlike other nations, does not sponsor it's artists."
