International Artist Workshops

Artist workshops travel the world with abstract artist painter and instructor Taylor Smith. We offer Art Workshops Italy, Art Workshops in Tuscany, Art Workshops in France, Art Workshops in Germany, Art Workshops in California Wine Country, Art Workshops in Napa Valley, Art Workshops in Spain and Art Workshops in Morocco.

International Artist Workshops

For more than a decade, Taylor Smith led intimate artist workshops and cultural travel programs throughout Europe, North Africa and the United States, with programs in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Napa Valley and other destinations.

Drawing upon years of living and studying art in Europe, these small-group experiences combined studio practice with art history, architecture, regional culture and the experience of creating artwork within extraordinary landscapes.

International Artist Workshops are currently on hiatus, and no future programs have been scheduled. If workshops resume in the future, announcements will be made through the Taylor Smith Studio mailing list.

For more than twenty years, Taylor Smith led artist workshops and creative travel experiences throughout Europe, North Africa and the United States. These immersive programs combined painting, architecture, art history, regional culture and exceptional local cuisine, encouraging participants to experience each destination through the eyes of an artist.

Rather than focusing solely on technical instruction, the workshops emphasized careful observation, composition, color relationships and the development of a personal visual language. Studio sessions were complemented by painting outdoors, museum visits and discussions exploring how artists from movements such as Cubism, Modernism and Abstract Expressionism approached color, form and composition.

Participants ranged from beginning painters to experienced artists and collectors. Small class sizes allowed for individual instruction while creating an environment where creative exploration, cultural discovery and lasting friendships naturally developed.

Taylor Smith studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (Akademie der Bildenden Künste) in Nürnberg, Germany, and participated in major collaborative projects, including assisting with the base layer of Keith Haring's Berlin Wall mural in 1986. Those experiences became the foundation for the international workshops she conducted for more than two decades.

Workshop Curriculum

Over more than a decade of teaching, these studio explorations formed the foundation of Taylor Smith's international workshops. While the workshops are currently on hiatus, these topics remain available as a record of the ideas, methods and creative investigations that shaped the program.

A History of Creative Travel

For many years, these workshops brought together artists, collectors and creative travelers for immersive experiences centered on painting, culture, architecture and place. Rather than traditional classroom instruction, each journey encouraged participants to slow down, observe carefully and develop a deeper appreciation for both the creative process and the regions we explored together.
